Kathy holds a Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying, a Masters degree in cost and systems engineering from the University of Cape Town (South Africa) and a Doctorate in property and facilities management from the University of Salford (United Kingdom). She is a registered Professional Quantity Surveyor with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession, a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Association of South African Quantity Surveyors and the South African Facilities Management Association. Kathy is the immediate Past-President of the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession and recently completed a four year term as a Council Member on the Council for the Built Environment in South Africa. Kathy’s core teaching passions are in the field’s of property management and facilities management. Her research areas are in the application of urban and community-based facilities management in leveraging socio-economic development in African cities.
